Grapes: 100% Chardonnay
From the limestone-rich slopes of Meursault, Armand Heitz has quietly established himself as a winemaker of rare subtlety and precision. “Les Vireuils” emerges from old plots planted near the village’s cooler edges, where the combination of marl, chalk and elevation give the wine its airy poise.
For the 2022 vintage, the grapes were gently whole-cluster pressed, fermented with native yeasts and matured in seasoned barrels with minimal intervention — the aim: preserve line, clarity and site expression rather than oak imprint or overt extraction.
In the glass, the wine opens with scents of white peach, green apple skin and faint almond. On the palate it’s crisp and refined, with citrus pith, pear flesh and a thread of chalky minerality running through to a persistent, cool finish. This is a refined Meursault — expressive yet measured, ideal with lobster, baked monkfish or aged Comté.
