Grapes: 85% Chardonnay / 15% Arbanne
A true ‘grower’ Champagne, Chartogne-Taillet is a family run house that is seen as one of the hottest in the Champagne region. A tiny estate, it is situated on a First World War battlefield, making ploughing risky still today.
Le Chemin de Reims area is mainly planted with Chardonnay, but, due to the iron-rich soil, the fullness and good structure on the palate take precedence over the variety's normal character. A sanguine texture, ample in the mid-palate then taut at the end, is characteristic of the plot's location.
