Wasenhaus is one of the new stars of German Pinot Noir, founded by Alexander Götze and Christoph Wolber after years working with top Burgundy domaines. Based in Baden, they craft wines that blend Burgundian elegance with the purity and freshness of their German home turf. Grand Ordinaire is their gateway Pinot — vibrant, detailed, and disarmingly refined.

The 2024 vintage was sourced from organically farmed vineyards around Bellen and Ehrenkirchen. Fermentation takes place with native yeasts in large wooden vats, followed by aging in old Burgundy barrels. Nothing is filtered, nothing rushed — just pure, expressive Pinot Noir handled with restraint and care.

In the glass, it shows delicate aromas of wild strawberry, red currant, and rose petal, with a hint of crushed herbs and spice. The palate is fine and precise, offering red fruit, gentle tannins, and a subtle mineral line that gives lift and length. Silky, fragrant, and effortlessly drinkable, it’s as at home with roast chicken as it is slightly chilled with charcuterie.
