Grapes: 100% Pinot Blanc
Established in 2011 by Ksenija and John House, Ovum was founded in hopes of producing Oregon wines that are honest reflections of time and place. Their low intervention production method favors native ferments, no subtractions or additions, except for SO2 - extended lees contact 8-9 months, for textural complexity.
2021 Ovum Pinot Blanc erupts from the glass with notes of aloe vera smashed in a mortar and pestle with pear and salted almond. Lace that with green cardamon river stone tea and you'll get close to the stunning nose of this Pinot Blanc. The palate defies the blousy varietal character bearing Riesling-like acidity, with a tannic grip one might associate with skin contact Alto Adige Bianco. The finish is like a delayed echo of the nose, where pear skin and lemon curd remain and linger.
