Grapes: 100% Syrah
From a lineage stretching back to 1481, Jean-Louis Chave crafts wines that are the purest expression of Hermitage's diverse and revered terroir. The 2022 vintage, born from a dry yet skillfully managed growing season, delivers a truly remarkable Syrah that showcases both power and an extraordinary sense of balance.
Per Vinous: "The 2023 L'Hermitage is floral at this early stage, with captivating aromatics of rose petal, crushed violet, sour cherry, red plum, cedar and a delicate hint of orange blossom. As usual, Chave showcased individual lieux-dits, with Les Beaumes standing out this year for its lively energy and laser-like precision. That said, the wine's core pillars, Les Bessards and L'Ermite, are marked by outstanding purity. While the 2025 eventually may not match the concentration or sheer impact of the 2022, it might reveal hidden surprises as it develops further".
While the 2023 Hermitage Rouge already displays remarkable purity and balance, its inherent structure and profound minerality indicate a wine built for the long haul. This is an investment for your cellar, destined to evolve into something truly magnificent over the next 25-40 years. Patience will be handsomely rewarded.
