Montestefano is the most historic vineyard in theĀ appellation, vinified as a single vineyard as earlyĀ as 1961. It is one of the best zones for Nebbiolo daĀ Barbaresco, with the perfect soils and conditionsĀ to give rise to powerful, structured wines. TheĀ SantāAgata marls here are a bluish-gray, dense andĀ deep, with active limestone.
Expect aromas and flavors of dark red fruits (cherry, raspberry, preserved cherries), intertwined with savory notes of truffle, tar, rose, sweet tobacco, and leather. Firm structure with dusty, refined tannins and lively acidity, leading to a long finish with a chalky minerality. Fabulous.
