Grapes: 100% Pinot Noir
It all started with a pioneering vision to grow world-class Pinot Noir in a remote coastal region of California that was long considered far too cool to ripen wine grapes. Fortunately, the founders, Michael Benedict and Richard Sanford had the determination and perseverance in establishing the Sanford & Benedict Vineyard in 1971. From one of the original, own-rooted plantings of Pinot Noir, Sanford now shares the 2016 Foundersā Vines Pinot Noir, the sixth vintage of their most prestigious, and limited wine.
They selected just 3 barrels for this savory, and singular wine. The 2016 is decidedly sweet and savory on the nose revealing saffron, rose water, chanterelles, and star anise. The suave palate displays a very ethereal frame to this elegant vintage of Foundersā Vines.
