From a lower-slope parcel in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Adrien Dhondt’s Les Coullemets 2020 is a crystalline study in Chardonnay purity. It’s one of his Grand Cru expressions that pulls you in with precision, minerality, and a vivid sense of place — showing what the chalky soils of Mesnil can deliver in a vintage like 2020.
Vinification is handled with great care: raised on lees, minimal intervention, extra brut dosage so fruit and site shine, not sweetness. The wine balances tension and richness in a way that feels elegant yet deeply expressive.
On the nose this is full of white flowers, green apple, lemon blossom, and a whisper of wet stone. The palate brings a lean profile of citrus pith, chalk, hints of almond, and a clean seam of salinity. The texture is focused, the bubbles fine, the finish long, mouthwatering, and precise.
Perfect as a refined aperitif, or paired with shellfish, crab, lobster, or gently steamed fish. Also beautiful on its own when you want to savour something quietly special.
