Grapes: 70% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay
From the Grand Cru village of Ambonnay, Egly-Ouriet is one of Champagne’s benchmark grower-producers, known for meticulous vineyard work and an uncompromising, low-intervention philosophy. Francis Egly’s focus on old vines, low yields, and full ripeness has redefined what powerful, terroir-driven Champagne can be.
“V.P.” — Vieillissement Prolongé — is drawn from the same base as the Brut Tradition but aged far longer on its lees, in this case 85 months (7 years) before disgorgement in November 2025. Fermentation takes place in barrel, and the extended élevage builds depth, texture, and complexity while preserving the wine’s underlying structure and energy.
Deep and expansive, it opens with baked apple, toasted brioche, hazelnut, and citrus oil. The palate is broad yet precise, with fine mousse, layered richness, and a chalky, mineral backbone that carries through a long, savory finish. A natural match for roast chicken, truffle dishes, or aged Comté.
