With a female founder and winemaker, Lapostolle is producing superb wines in Chile. Founded by Alexandra Marnier Laspostolle (great grand daughter of the founder of orange Liqueur Grand Marnier), who fell in love with the Cochagua Valley and saw potential to make world class wines in this corner of the world. Their motto is "French in Essence. Chilean by Birth,” explained by winemaker Andrea Leon, “We are not making French wines in Chile, but Chilean wines with a French winemaking philosophy.”
"Parcelle 8" is a stunning single vineyard example of what is possible from the incredible Apalta DOC of the Colchagua Valley. The wine spends over 2 years in new French oak, to produce a complex nose of sweet blackberries, cigar tobacco and gentle floral aromatics. On the palate, it's full bodied with chewy tannin and walnuts, chocolate, and lightly toasted flavors.
