Current Vintage: 2023

Grapes: 100% Pinot Noir

Wasenhaus is the project of Alexander Götze and Christoph Wolber — two friends who cut their teeth in Burgundy before returning home to Baden to redefine what German Pinot Noir can be. Their wines combine the finesse and restraint of great Côte d’Or producers with the cool precision of the Black Forest foothills. Bellen comes from a steep, limestone-rich vineyard that consistently delivers their most transparent and refined expression.

The 2023 vintage was fermented with indigenous yeasts in open-top wooden vats, with a gentle extraction and long, slow maceration. The wine was then aged in used Burgundy barrels for just under a year, allowing the texture to soften without losing freshness. As with all Wasenhaus wines, no fining or filtration — just minimal sulfur and patience.

Aromas of wild cherry, cranberry, and rose petal mingle with hints of forest floor and spice. The palate is silken and finely etched, showing bright red fruit, subtle earthiness, and a thread of minerality that gives the wine focus and tension. The finish is pure and persistent — elegant without being delicate. A beautiful pairing for duck, mushroom dishes, or simply savored on its own.
