There’s an unusual depth behind this non-vintage Champagne, thanks to the inclusion of wines stretching back across many previous harvests. That maturity is balanced by a very low dosage, so while there’s richness and complexity in the glass, the wine never loses its freshness or precision.
Golden apple, ripe pear and citrus sit alongside toasted hazelnut, warm bread and a touch of spice. It has a lovely vinous quality; broad and textured enough to feel like a proper wine rather than simply an aperitif, before a bright, savory finish pulls everything together. Fantastic with roast chicken, mushrooms, charcuterie or, in true Perry’s fashion, a big bowl of salty fries.
