Grapes: 100% Chardonnay

Jean-Marc Roulot has become one of the most revered names in white Burgundy, and not simply because his Meursault Premier Crus are so difficult to find. His talent lies in making Chardonnay that feels remarkably alive, with freshness, texture and complexity working together rather than competing for attention. Even his entry level Bourgogne Blanc gets the full Roulot treatment, making it a wonderful introduction to one of Burgundy's most celebrated domaines.

The 2024 comes from vineyards in and around Meursault, offering a taste of the Côte de Beaune without the Premier Cru price tag. It's a vintage that required plenty of attention in the vineyard, with a difficult growing season resulting in smaller yields and wines that tend toward freshness rather than sheer concentration. Roulot's measured approach to oak allows the Chardonnay to develop texture while keeping its lively character firmly intact.

Crisp green apple, lemon and pear lead into white flowers, a touch of almond and a subtle mineral note. There's a lovely balance between the wine's gentle richness and bright acidity, giving it more depth than you might expect from a Bourgogne Blanc. The finish is clean, focused and wonderfully refreshing. A brilliant introduction to the Roulot style; try it with grilled fish, roast chicken, scallops or a simple plate of Comté.
