In the hills above Barolo, the Vajra family crafts wines that balance Piedmontese tradition with a gentle, modern clarity. Their Barbera d’Alba Superiore is a vibrant yet serious take on this classic grape — generous in fruit, grounded in minerality, and shaped by the family’s signature restraint.
Sourced from older vines planted in limestone-rich soils, the grapes are fermented with native yeasts and aged in large Slavonian oak casks. The extended élevage lends polish and structure while allowing the Barbera’s natural juiciness to shine through.
The nose offers aromas of ripe cherry, blackberry, and violet, laced with hints of licorice and spice. On the palate, it’s full and supple, with dark berry fruit, balanced acidity, and a silky texture that carries through to a long, savory finish. It’s a wine that marries generosity with precision — perfect with roasted meats, aged cheeses, or simply a quiet evening at home.
