Merry Edwards is one of the great pioneers of California Pinot Noir. A trailblazer in an industry historically dominated by men, she spent decades demonstrating just how extraordinary the grape could be in Sonoma County. She established her namesake winery in 1997, and today winemaker Heidi von der Mehden continues her legacy, producing expressive, beautifully crafted wines that have made Merry Edwards a benchmark for Russian River Valley Pinot Noir.
The 2023 brings together fruit from vineyards across the Russian River Valley, where cool Pacific fog and warm afternoon sunshine create ideal conditions for Pinot Noir. A long, relatively cool growing season allowed the grapes to develop flavour gradually, giving this vintage an appealing combination of concentration and freshness. French oak ageing adds depth and complexity, complementing the fruit rather than overwhelming it.
Generous aromas of black cherry, ripe raspberry and plum mingle with rose petals, sweet spice and a hint of earthy complexity. The palate is rich and velvety, with beautifully integrated tannins and a refreshing acidity that gives the wine energy and definition. Notes of dark chocolate, clove and subtle toasted oak emerge on the lingering finish. Delicious with roast duck, grilled salmon, mushroom risotto or herb-crusted pork tenderloin. A wonderfully polished expression of Russian River Valley Pinot Noir, with plenty of personality and the structure to reward a few years in the cellar.

- To exchange we require the faulty product to be returned to the store.
- For returns of wines which are corked, please re-seal after tasting and return us the (nearly) full bottle. We cannot exchange if the bottle has been consumed.
- If the same product is not available, we will refund in full to the original form of payment.
