Grapes: 100% Chardonnay
Based in Meursault, the Boisson family has earned a devoted following for its beautifully crafted Burgundies. Pierre Boisson brings the family's meticulous approach to Chardonnay beyond the Côte de Beaune, offering a taste of their distinctive style at a rather more approachable price.
The Mâconnais lies in southern Burgundy, where a warmer climate gives Chardonnay a little more generosity than its northern neighbours. The 2022 vintage was particularly sunny, producing ripe, expressive fruit. Yet this is far from an overly rich Chardonnay. Boisson's restrained approach allows the wine's freshness and natural character to take centre stage, bringing a welcome touch of Burgundian elegance to the Mâconnais.
Ripe pear, golden apple and lemon zest lead the way, followed by white flowers, a hint of almond and a subtle chalky note. The palate is rounded and gently textured, with juicy orchard fruit balanced by refreshing citrus acidity. There's a delicate savoury quality to the finish that makes this particularly enjoyable at the table. Try it with roast chicken, grilled sea bass, scallops or a creamy mushroom pasta. A lovely opportunity to discover the Boisson family's approach to Chardonnay without venturing into Meursault prices!
